However, even the common furniture beetle (Anobium punctatum) has been known to cause structural collapse.
Without doubt the most destructive of the woodboring insects found in the UK is the House Longhorn beetle (Hylotrupes bajulus) which has
caused collapse of roofs. Whatever the specific insect encountered, it will at least cause degradation of the wood and unsightly spoiling;
this will progressively lower the value of the property as the activity becomes more extensive.
Woodworm Treatments Hampshire from JH Preservation
Most people do not know that they have a woodworm infestation until they see the resulting damage caused by the woodworm. It is obviously far better to
identify that woodworm exist in a property before they can do extensive damage so, if you suspect that you may have woodworm - or if you have just
purchased an older property - then it makes sense to carry out a survey to see if everything is as it should be as, when left untreated, woodworm damage
can become serious with weakened timbers that can lead to structural problems.
